Natalie S. Maier

Associate

Natalie Switzer Maier brings an invaluable perspective to her private practice after serving as Judicial Law Clerk to the Hon. Daniel J. Yablonsky in Superior Court of New Jersey, Family Part. During her clerkship, Natalie managed a variety of family law dockets, spanning from domestic violence restraining order trials to post-judgment matrimonial motions for custody, child support, and other various reliefs. She embraces her work with the understanding that it affects the most intimate and personal aspects of her clients’ lives. Natalie advocates for her clients with the ultimate objective of improving their quality of life and setting them up for long-term success.

Before joining CMFB, Natalie worked at a Chambers-ranked boutique matrimonial law firm specializing in high net worth and celebrity divorces. During this time, she co-authored an amicus curiae brief before the United States Supreme Court involving the Hague Convention on the Civil Aspects of International Child Abduction (the “Hague Convention”).

Natalie is a 2020 graduate of Syracuse University College of Law, where she was a member of the Advocacy Honor Society (“Moot Court”) and represented the law school on two inter-collegiate appellate teams. Throughout law school, Natalie volunteered at the Onondaga County Family Court, consulting with victims of domestic violence and sexual abuse. In addition to her J.D. curriculum, Natalie took graduate level coursework at the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications and served as a legal research assistant at the Tully Center for Free Speech. Her Note, which focused on international legal protections for the press, was chosen for publication in the Syracuse Journal of International Law and Commerce. Natalie’s intricate knowledge of First Amendment and Communications law has proven useful to her high-profile clients when navigating media interest in divorce proceedings.

In just her second year of practice, Natalie was recognized by Super Lawyers as a “Rising Star,” for demonstrating excellence in the practice areas of matrimonial and family law. She shares her passion and knowledge of New York divorce law with various local organizations and media outlets, including her recent feature on “The Style That Binds Us” Podcast.

In addition to New York, Natalie is licensed to practice law in New Jersey and Connecticut. She is a member of the New York City and State Bar Associations, as well as the Women’s Bar Association of New York. She currently serves on the executive boards of the Penn State Alumni Association NYC Chapter and The Hope Gala NYC, providing financial assistance to families battling pediatric cancer. Natalie is also a member of the New York Junior League. In her spare time, you can find her running the Central Park loop, training for her next TCS New York City Marathon.
